Paula Flynn, LPC
Paula is a true believer that being the best counselor comes from one's own life experiences. She works to create a non-judgmental and trusting relationship with all her clients and to provide the validation and gentle push necessary for self-empowerment and positive growth and change. She works from a client centered approach, while incorporating cognitive-behavioral, family, and solution focused therapy. It is important for her to offer empathy, encouragement and understanding, while offering a safe space to share their stories.
Paula has over a decade of experience as a counselor, which brings a unique skill set to the work she does. Paula started her counseling experience working as a trauma counselor with survivors of sexual assault. Then took that experience and worked in a hospital outpatient setting helping kids and adults alike overcoming everything from depression and anxiety to eating disorders and trauma. Paula's experience is unique because she has had the opportunity to not only work with individuals on their own, but also help the family unit understand how to communicate with each other and work towards bettering their relationships.
At Lakeview Counseling, Paula works with kids, teens, adults, couples, and families, who struggle with general anxiety, social anxiety, depression, and PTSD. She also has a great deal of experience connecting with school educators and helping to provide classroom recommendations. She has also taken a special interest in women's issues and working with women who are trying to conceive and fertility challenges through the postpartum stages.
Paula is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with an undergraduate degree from Indiana University Bloomington and a Masters of Clinical Counseling degree from Roosevelt University.
